
The inaugural Centenary doubles was a roaring success at the beautiful Gt Missenden LTC. Spectators basked in the sun and fun atmosphere.
Each match was a super-set with sudden-death deuce and tie-break at 5-5. Each pair played five hotly contested matches.
Players came from all over Bucks – Winslow, Hazlemere, Marlow, Bucks Indoor Tennis Centre plus from London Clubs Roehampton and Highgate.
Greatt Missenden Lawn Tennis Club were very generous in allowing Bucks Tennis to stage the event and supplied delicious lunches.
The final was an all family affair with brothers Nick and Calum Rennie defeating father and son Alec and James Spooner 6-3 in a riveting final won with an ace.
All players had a great day and are very keen to play similar events again.
All players were delighted to receive one of the sustainable pressure-less balls as a memento.
Special guest Dr David Orchard presented signed copies of his new book ‘The final chapter’ a history of Bucks Tennis to the winners and runners-up.
Referee and organiser Andy Scholfield was supported by the motivator Mr Andy Giles, thanks to them for running the event.
