Over the summer, our seniors teams have been competing in the National Seniors Inter-County Cup, with age groups from Over 40s to Over 75s. 2024 was a very successful season for both the women‘s and men’s teams. Our Women’s Over 50s were promoted to Division 1, meaning that 4 of our 7 women’s teams will be in the top division next year. The Women’s Over 40s team finished top of Division 1a, qualifying for the national finals, as reported by captain Helen Adams:

“A tough but enjoyable day at DL Southampton yesterday for the L40 national final. Bucks lost 3-1 to Middlesex.
S1 Helen Adams lost to M. Shah 1-6 4-6
S2 Caroline Neil Dwyer lost to F. Brewester 2-6 2-6
D1 Irene Fourie & Celia Cornforth lost to A. Els and N. Bell 1-6 4-6
D2 H. Adams & C. Neil-Dwyer beat S.Spry & R. Yomoda 6-1 6-1.
We stopped at that point as the ref wanted to go home! It was a good venue for viewing and there were some fabulous matches in the M45 and M55. The quality of players was evident by the number of tennis bags with flight tags on them!”
The men’s teams should have 5 teams playing in Division 1 next year, after the Over 60s were also promoted. The highlight of the season was the Over 55s, who also won Division 1a to qualify for the national finals. The final clashed with the Tennis Europe inter-club finals in Turkey, which included five members of the squad. However, with a couple of players changing their travel plans, a strong team went to Southampton and beat Essex 3-0, an incredible result. Congrats to the team and thank you to all those who gave up their time to play for and support the Bucks teams this year.

S2 David Sellers beat S Chesher 6-3 6-3
